Using a Digital Photo Frame to
Display Student Work
I discovered this Kodak digital photo frame at a local yard sale last summer. (A bargain for $20) My Student Work Display was born!
Personally, I have never had a digital photo frame. I would like to say that my first thought was about how great it would be to have this at home to display my kid’s pictures in our family room. However, that was not my brainstorm at all.
A few years ago, my school consolidated with another school at a new location. The building we moved into was new. There were several rules about placing materials on the wall. In addition to that, it was very difficult to find products that would hold items on the cinder block walls without damaging the paint.
Therefore, my thought for this digital photo frame was a student work display area for my classroom! I was so very excited to try this idea out. Every school year we are asked to scan and upload pictures of student work for various forms of documentation. My thoughts, the time I use to upload these samples to one drive and/or google drive, could easily be added to an HD card. My mind started racing about the many ways I could use this frame as my classroom work display.
I needed a stand to place the frame on. Therefore, I decided to purchase a wooden easel from Hobby Lobby using a 40% off coupon.
Student Work Display
I quickly implemented this idea into my classroom this year. In addition, I was able to upload an image of the standards and “I can statements” to show what skills and standards our pictures and work samples were focused on. What a great way to display my students work! I switched out pictures throughout the year.
I would like to note that we still display actual work samples outside our classroom door.
